Dr. Hakim attended college at Rutgers University in Piscataway. He then continued his training at UMDNJ- Rutgers Medical School at Camden. He went on to complete his residency training in Internal Medicine at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ.

Dr. Hakim lives with his wife and two daughters in Berkeley Heights. He and his family are members of the Little Flower Church. His wife, Lori, is a Registered Nurse and works part-time as a nurse for Optimus Health Care Partners. When not at work, Dr. Hakim enjoys spending time with his family, travel and reading science fiction.
